Positive People

It's a beautiful sunny day today. As I gaze outside, I long for a few hours where I can sit quietly outside on a terrace and watch the people go by. My biggest challenge? Finding the time........

The promise of Spring is in the air. For the first time today, I put on a pair of shoes to go to work! That's progress! The change of season makes it easier to push yourself out that door for a run. There aren't as many layers that need to go on, and there are far more people outside........

People with smiles on their face, and a spring in their step. They, too, are happy to be alive!

They are positive. And it's positive people that you should surround yourself with, no matter what.

Positive people stand out like a beacon, always make you feel good about yourself, and are encouraging. They are often the ones who inspire you to do better, or push you past your so-called limit. They can be a family member, close friend, running partner or even an associate at work.

A runner's quote came across my desk today. It read, "Surround yourself with people who believe in you, encourage you and help you exceed your dreams". This is so true. Cancer patients will do so much better with someone who is happy, and can always....... or even often.......see the glass half full. Runners will get past the wall if running with a partner that is encouraging and believes you can do it.

Motivational speakers will tell you this all the time. The secret of successful people is that they surround themselves with positive like-minded souls. I don't know one person who is genuinely happy if they are constantly surrounded with put downs and criticisms. I am sure that if I had gone to a chemotherapy treatment with someone who would find fault with the hospital staff, or complain about their sad life, I would have lost that spark of optimism.

So surround yourself with encouraging people. It will make you a better runner, a better friend, and even a better parent. Oh........and it's important when you are fighting cancer! Put a smile on your face, and be that support to someone today! That person will want to keep you around.
