The Cancer Survivors Club

A few years ago I met a cancer survivor through his regular newspaper column. A journalist by trade, and a cancer survivor himself, he wrote warm, sometimes endearing, and at other times humourous stories about cancer survivours. They were almost always inspiring. And that is why I immediately found a kinship with Chris Geiger.

I had also started writing this blog; my wish being that I would help fellow cancer patients, survivours and their families through my writing. I truly wanted to help others understand what it's like to be hit by cancer, and how I didn't allow it to bring me down. So what an honour it was that he asked me to write a chapter in a book that he was putting together that would be a collection of stories that truly inspired.

I immediately accepted, and got down to spinning my tale. Suddenly there was so much to say! With only a chapter of space, I had to chose what I wanted to include with care. That was about a year an a half ago.

I kept in touch with his wife, Catherine, over this time, while they were going through the hundreds of stories they received, and putting the book together. A very warm and pleasant individual, she was always there with words of encouragement while we waited for a publisher.

And patience does pay off! I am pleased to say that my story has been published! The book's called "The Cancer Survivors Club" by Chris Geiger. It's a collection of twenty three stories that, we hope, will leave everyone touched by cancer beaming with a new determination to survive. The main focus of this book is to help, encourage and inspire people touched by cancer. It provides current sufferers with a distraction from the worries of daily treatment, by encouraging them to think about life once they've become a survivour and kicked the disease.

This book contains a mix of stories from the most common cancers to the rarest. It also includes a number of Chris Geiger's cheerful columns. So please, check out amazon.ca, and order a copy of this delightful book today. Check out the website at www.thecancersurvivorsclub.co.uk, to view their gallery.
